Dr Ido Van der Heijden is a Dutchman, living in the UK since 1979. He has an established reputation as an expert in developing Emotional Intelligence in organisations.
Ido graduated as a clinical psychologist in 1976 and since then received extensive postgraduate training in different forms of psychotherapy. His knowledge and experience covers a wide spectrum of approaches to human development ranging from Freudian psychology to NLP and Meditation.
He is a Visiting Fellow of Cranfield School of Management where he pioneered in-depth personal development work and later co-founded PRAXIS: The Centre for Developing Personal Effectiveness. Ido is responsible for Cranfield's flagship programme 'Organisational and Interpersonal Skills in Management' which has had a major impact on several generations of executives over the years and which addresses underlying attitudes that inform interpersonal skills.
Ido lives in East Sussex with his wife and daughter and plays the cello.
I work with executives and executive teams on releasing their potential and to develop sustainable working relationships. I have worked with several hundred senior executives and executive teams worldwide, always focusing on improving people's understanding of themselves and their colleagues.
My approach to coaching is to combine my ability to gain rapid insight into a person's issues with my skill and sensitivity in addressing those issues in a direct and supportive way. How do I do that? Well, I'm told I have a penetrating, humorous style that helps people to be more open than they usually are!
I think I could summarise my work in this quote from David White, in his book "The Heart Aroused":
Our deeper struggles are in effect our greatest spiritual and creative assets, and the doors to whatever creativity we might possess.
