Paul Crittenden

Leadership Consultant, Speaker & Executive Coach

Paul Crittenden is Founder and Director of Transformational Thinking Ltd. He is a professional facilitator and executive coach, having trained with MRA International in 1994, and is on the faculty of the UK's Institute of Directors where he delivers their programmes on Transformational Leadership.

An inspirational leader himself, Paul coaches and trains senior executives and top teams in leadership, top team orientation, organisational alignment, and personal / team development. Paul is a sought after and provocative speaker with an entertaining and inspirational style. He has spoken at international conferences in the UK and abroad, and for a number of years was a favoured speaker of Kent Training and Enterprise Council.

Paul has over 23 years of multi-sector experience in a wide variety of management and leadership roles, and has owned and managed his own businesses. In recent years he has specialised in helping organisations plan, initiate and manage large-scale change in their structures, systems and management philosophies. His clients have included major names in the transport, financial services, civil engineering, and social care industries, and more recently, fast moving / high growth hi-tech companies.

Paul's contribution to the Social Care sector in Kent saw him elected to the strategic planning group for the industry in Kent, where he led numerous initiatives to improve standards in care delivery across the County. These initiatives included research-based programmes in partnership with the South East Institute for Public Health.

Paul's early career was with the Ministry of Defence, in Shipbuilding and Nuclear Engineering, where he was principally involved with the refit of Britain's surface and submarine fleet. He then spent four years lecturing in Engineering, before becoming Managing Director of a specialist company supplying turnkey entertainment installations to upmarket retail developments throughout the USA and Europe.

My company achieved massive growth in the second half of the 1980s, but fell victim to the recession in 1990. This was a personal tragedy for me. I felt very much a victim of circumstance and I blamed everyone else for my misfortune. It was a chance remark that caused me to refocus. Looking back now, I believe it was that experience which catalysed my interest in the psychology of achievement.

I am fascinated by the dynamics that enable individuals and organisations to perform consistently at peak performance. Transformational Thinking Ltd uses research from the worlds of sport, business and education to support groups and individuals as they embrace the principles that drive this level of success.

My personal philosophy is captured in a subtly adapted version of Alan Kay's quote: ". the best way to predict your future is to invent it "
